Jota Ramos at La Ruca

An evening of music, film, food and discussion
Sunday, 31st October, 7.30 pm

Entrance – £5.00
Chilean meal – £4.99

All proceeds will benefit youth music projects in Colombia

Jota Ramos, a young Afro-Colombian is fighting for change in his town, Villa Rica, using hip-hop music.  Villa Rica, in south-western Colombia, has high rates of poverty and unemployment and there is pressure for young people to join the various military groups which surround the area. To help young people to resist this pressure, he has set up a hip-hop group called Soporte Klan whose songs focus on community issues. The group works with young people to encourage them to live positive lives. Proceeds from this benefit will go to this, and similar, projects in Colombia. Jota’s visit has been organised by the Colombia Solidarity Campaign.

Tickets available in advance from La Ruca, Gloucester Road, Bishopston, BS7 8AS
